RFOS Public statement on the killing of Sergeant Major Robert Kabera
We are deeply disturbed by the reported killing of Sergeant Major Robert Kabera in Kamengo, Uganda. The former soldier and musician, known as a critic of President Paul Kagame’s government, was found dead and beheaded near a house he was building.
We call on the Ugandan authorities to launch a swift, independent, and transparent investigation into his death and to bring those responsible to justice.
We also demand immediate protection for all Rwandan refugees and asylum seekers worldwide. Exile must never become a death sentence.
Our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Sergeant Major Robert Kabera.
